Artist statement: I am an observational painter, I paint from life. Most often I paint landscapes and could be called a Plein Air painter. I start each painting on location and I try to approach each one with a fresh and open point of view. Most of each painting is finished on the spot, but they are frequently reworked and adjusted in my studio. I try to make my paintings more than just a copy of a place but a narrative or documentary about a setting; creating a story and and a feeling about a place.
Specific medium: oil on board

Artist statement: I was born in The Netherlands, raised in New York, and presently paint in my home studio in Uxbridge, MA. In 2006 I set a goal to complete a painting a day making small works more affordable to collectors. As the body of work developed, a pattern began to emerge revealing mainly still-life subjects. Although my work is not limited to the still life genre, I have learned that still life subjects translate well into a small painting format. They challenge me to dig deeper into the details.

Artist statement: My work is an expression of what I value: the intrinsic and intangible qualities of a rich and full life, whether found in nature or the people around us. My models are people I meet at random occasions in my day-to-day life. Sometimes I have to coax them into sitting for me. They often don’t understand why I want to paint them. But once the creative process begins, they see what I’m trying to achieve and enjoy the journey. This dialogue is so important for each painting. It helps the art

Artist statement: The banks of the Blackstone River are in places lined with forests of shift birch tree forests that thrive in the sandy soil. I've found myself captivated by one small such forest located in South Grafton, Massachusetts, just below Mill Village Park. The trees and forest themselves are captivating, but more so to me are the paths that lead throughout the forest. One could easily get lost even in such a small forest next to a river, except for those paths.
