Zee Giesbrecht
$200.00

Artist statement: My name is Zee Giesbrecht, I'm a Brazilian queer artist. My work concerns LGBTQIA+ body identity, intimate relationships and queer consciousness. I aim to explore these themes through an emotional representation of identities that are in movement, always in constant construction and deconstruction. To express that idea, I tend to choose an intersection of liquid and dry mediums: bright ever-flowing watercolors juxtaposed with solid charcoal presented in fast, rough, disconnected lines.

Artist statement: Painting with watercolor is my key to my secret garden, to my down the rabbit hole, to my very own looking glass. Watercolor is a very fresh, intuitive process that involves layering water-based paint on paper. Every once in a while, I have an inspired moment where I create exactly the effect I wanted - or even more exciting- I produce something that veers from my original idea and exceeds my expectations.

Artist statement: ARTIST STATEMENT MARSHA GLEASON I am feeling a true urgency to paint now—- from instinct, observation, and gut responses— in the practice of Direct Oil Painting. Painting for me reveals: searches and surprises, methods from master teachers, sensibilities and masses of paint. The figure is most compelling to me, as is the paint itself. Together, they give attention to things that matter. It’s all in there, and I’m all in. _____________ .
